Well, they're more expensive, but better built and, for me, much more competent machines. Mac OS X's stability and security is second to none amongst the desktop OS's, but that's the result of having all of the benefits of FreeBSD 4.4 without the typical config woes that plague most BSD users.

Ask me about the last time I got some spyware? Or maybe a virus? How about an IRQ conflict?

I'm not bashing PCs per se, but I'd rather pay more and get a better machine. They even last longer. Currently I'm posting this from a 1st gen slotloader Graphite Se iMac, made in like 98 or 99. How many 400mhz Pentium with 256 MB of ram do you know that could run WinXP SP2 comfortably and without lag? Cause OS X is running fine on this machine with those specs

that is all.

And the funny part about your complaints is that they're all easily changed. The dock comes standard on the bottom, dock magnification is a toggle switch, and iChat is only good for it's SD-quality audio/video chat... If it wasn't a lab computer, I'd tell you to get the actual AIM client for X.

to be fair, the question should be can you run freebsd 4.4 on a 400mhz Pentium 2 system with 256mb of ram.

i was using the AIM client for OS X and compared to the PC version - it's a mess.
