Default does size really matter?

so i was talkin to this girl i met in class a few days ago about just random stuff and the conversation gets really really deep. :rick:

we talked about politics and just about anything you can imagine then next thing you know the size question comes up and im like then she just says it with no hesitation at all. when standing up it should be taller than your chin but not over your head. smaller ones help you move quicker and bigger ones make you go faster. im thinkin about getting a bigger snowboard than my 159 i have right now...should i do it? im 5'11" 180lbs

h: you sick minded bastids

snowboard squad chime in

I don't have my own board yet, but from what I've been told, it should be around your chin. Other people have their own theories, but this is what I've gathered from a few sources.

It also has alot to do with your weight as well.

I'm 5'8" and I ride either a fat 153 or a skinny 156. Ideally I'd want something around 158 or so... being 5'11" I'd reccomend at least a 160, probably more like 166 or so.

I find the longer board makes blaring through choppy surfaces much easier and more stable. Most modern 170s are lighter than a 145 was three years ago, so I wouldn't worry much about rotation in the air. Turn in and tight manouvering wont be as precise, but if you spend most of your time on groomed/semi-groomed runs, you'll love the extra length.

My personal solution is to just have several boards (I own 4) and choose the one most approprate for the conditions and the type of riding I plan to do.

Depends on what kind of riding you want to do. Shorter boards are better for freestyle, longer boards are better for carving and extreme terrain, deep snow, etc.

exactly, I ride alot of powder not so much freestyle, so I use a slightly wider and longer board than I would at the park. for that I use my other board h:
