a little trick is to get a smaller(thinner) band. make the diamond look bigger.

Ibwomensaybigringorwontmarry

I have to say I agree that it's not the price, size, or weight, but the true meaning and feelings behind it.

My gf would prefer 1carat flawless or near with grade D color, Ideal Cut diamond in a platinum ring over a 2 carat VS clarity, H color and good cut.

have you check bluenile.com?

very good pricing there. I've shopped there before for diamonds (but not an engagement ring)

are you comparing everything? not just based on size. but the 4 Cs. color, cut, clarity, carat.

at least locally all the jewelers were 30-45% higher than blue nile and with gold instead of platinum. this was for diamond ear rings.
