Well I have a 650 sq ft apartment in Wisconsin and you have a presumably larger townhouse in California (where energy probably costs more). I only have one person's worth of tv watching, web surfing and cooking to power. But still, how often does it get cold in your house? Running the heat just for a little bit can't cost that much more...

I just found out our townhouse is <1000sq ft. I've always guessed around 1200, but I was wrong h: It is most likely to be the higher cost of energy. Our 19" TV is on probably 4 hours a day, computer is on 6-12 hours, and cooking for a family of 3. And our washer and dryer probably goes through 7 loads a week. But it rarely gets cold enough for me to complain :exnbp: We are just going through some kinda of cold spell. The rain is coming back, which most likely means the cold is leaving.

you'd be surprised. it doubles our bill. goes from $35 to $75.

but i pay less for electricity where I live and my house is very efficient. I suspect as it gets colder, the bill will climb towards $100.

you don't have a payment plan? we pay the same amount every month (based on pass usage) regardless of the amount of electricity used, and at the end of the year they give us a credit or charges us a over usage fee.

no need for one, at least for me. some one my co-workers pay 200-300/month more during the summer and winter months.

I'm sitting on one hand while the other scrolls the mouse. Switch hands every so often :happysad:
