So I went to the DMV the other day to get a new drivers license. After I filled out the form the lady punched a hole in my DL over the exp. date and handed me a paper that serves as my temp. Now Im worried I cant buy any drinks until I get the new one in the mail like 39847509375 weeks from now. Only other ID I have is a school ID that doesnt tell my age.

The holidays are gonna suck if I stay sober.

Oh yeah I was gonna ask... anyone go through the same ordeal as me? Did the bouncers/bartenders give you shet?

 

If you look like you are 16 they will card you. If you look older they will usually just ask and not make a real thorough check.

 

Cali they card if you look 25, theres posters everywhere.

Im askin for those who have gone through the same thing as me. But my guess is all them foos are at teh club without me.

 

They send you the new DL in the mail? :eh:
We get ours on the spot in like 5 minutes...and if you order a duplicate of the internet, it comes in about 2 days.

 

Yeah Cali is shady like that. Anything to do with cars and driving is a nightmare.

can't you just carry the papers and the old DL with you? If this is common practice in Cali, I don't see how that wouldn't work. :dunno:

 

Expired DL's don't count for anything. I tried to use one at Dave and Buster's once because I had left my license at the pool hall...I showed my student ID with name and picture, then my old license with DOB/etc...wouldn't take it. Cali is uber strict about that stuff, and San Diego/OC in particular are very strict.

Len, sorry to say...but you gotta wait...cos that little piece of paper doesn't have your pic on it.

 

Yeah, but if he has both the paper that's his temp which says he renewed but is waiting to receive his new license, and his DL with his picture and the exp. date punched out but has is DOB, then it should work. They're both legal documents, and I'm assuming that this is standard practice when renewing you DL in Cali. Unless they guy carding you is just being an asshole, it should work.
