Doesn't it seem a little bit wrong that the ONLY thing they will let you use is a driver's license. What if you don't have a car or have no need for a license.
If you are of legal age, there should be a way to buy booze/get into bars without having your license.

I think if you don't have a car, then a California ID card would work. Looks like a license but is for ID purposes.
