Thoughts on Chiropractic treatment?
I've gone routinely since i was 8 (12 years). It's a world of difference in my life.
However, not all chiropracters are good. Ask around in your area and see if you can get a general census on the chiros in your area.
Research a little bit, also, about how it works and why you need to have the adjustments. If you understand a little bit of what theyre doing to you, you'll feel more comfortable going in. Most will give you a brief discription of what theyre going to do and why..but very few explain the way it actually affects your whole body.

i wouldnt say its quackery.. it is helpful temporarily, but you're not going to see permanent healing. the adjustments feel really good, but i think it becomes an addiction. i used to go a couple days/week after i hurt my back running.. i recovered, but its not solely on the chiropractor.. personal effort and rehab is necessary

Of course it isn't permanent healing when something as minor as sneezing can throw your back out.
I have 3 problems that cause me to go to a chiro..and all 3 have improved with the Dr that I'm seeing now, who I've been with for the last 5 years. My hips are slightly uneven, i have very mild scoliosis and the cervical curve in my neck wasn't as curved as it should be. All 3 have significantly improved and I can notice a difference. The neck issue is the cause of most of my migraines, which are less often and less severe than when i was younger. I only have to go once a week now, as opposed to the 3 times a week when i was 15. As my conditions continue to improve, I will only need to get an adjustment maybe twice a month to maintain it...but of course if I feel like my neck is out, or i have back pain or pressure, i can go in.
Chiropractic care is good for living a healthy life. It keeps your vertebrae in line, which protects your spinal cord. When pressure is put on a certain part of your spinal cord because of a subluxation, it affects something else in some other part of your body. For instance, if you have a subluxation in the extreme lower part of your spine, near your tailbone, it can cause problems with the reproductive system, because that portion of your spinal cord controls the repro system.
For me, it's been a God send. I love it and I will continue to promote it...especially since it goes hand in hand with massage therapy
I've also been going since I was in grade school. I had allergies/asthma. Chiropractic care, like Mandi said, is preventive maintanence. Pay little bit to keep yourself healthy now or pay alot when you get sick.
After about a year of going to the chiropractor my allergies/asthma was alot less severe and I could actually join track for the 1st time. And I agree with what Mandi says too about good chiropractors and bad ones - just like any doctor.
And to add on, if your back is out of alignment it's like cutting off circulation for your circulatory system (blood stream). When you cut off blood supply to that area of the body it will malfunction or cease to work. Your back is the same way, but instead of blood supply you have nerve impulses that go to different parts of your body. And the nerve impulses can get cut off or decrease in amplitude by the spline pinching a nerve.
Can you tell I almost became a chiropractor
