Nah, I'd use one of my spare rotors... a touch over 9 pounds of cast iron.

They've shared truck parts for a while, however the RX-7 is 100% Japanese Mazda, while the Mustang is 100% American Ford. Everything is completely different, nothing is even close to fitting.

This is no Chrysler/Dodge relationship (same company.) Mazda is still an independant company that Ford owns a controlling interest of...only since about '88. It's not really a "sister company."

actually ive seen weight comparisons and an aluminum LS1 doesn't weigh any more (maybe a few lbs) than the turbo engine and what not

Its all good man.. I used to have an 88 TII, with a rotory.. which never ran. :happysad:

Yeah, but that's assuming you get an all-aluminum engine like the LS1's. The vast majority of the conversions use older cast iron blocks, which weigh considerably more.

Any smallblock makes for a great drag car though. I always get a kick out of hearing someone fire up an RX-7 with a built smallblock in it... and watch the casual folk standing around it freak out when they realize it's not "normal."
