in what other industry do you have a salary cap? the yankees can afford a higher payroll for 2 reasons.

1. they generate more revenue than other teams
2. the boss is willing to scoop into his own pockets to make sure his team is in the running year after year.

business is business, a more successful corporation can pay their top employees more than a mediocre or sub-par business

doesn't basketball have salary caps too? I remember someone saying that Shaq was a dick for taking up a majority of the salary cap for the Lakers so they couldn't get a better lineup. Whereas garnett took less money to make the entire team better (whatever team that is). Or something like that.

The NBA salary cap is a joke It is a soft cap. The cap is at like 55 million or something yet there are several teams approaching 100 million.

There are still franchise players in the NFL, and players in the MLB bounce around to new teams all the time. What's so great about a dynasty? How is that good for the league? Odd how all of the people talking about how dynasties are so great are Yankees fans. Having the same damn team win a majority of the time is boring. The fans in the one market enjoy it, but all of the other teams who never have a chance, their fans just stop caring.

how is it bad for baseball? look at the drama that it has created, yankee fans and haters alike are here talking about it. look how much fans respond when they beat high payroll teams like the yankees and the sox....

but it doesnt surprise me that somebody that hates corporate growth and wealthy tax breaks would be against having a financially strong BUSINESS in the form of a baseball team.

Oh right yeah it's all back to politics.

NFL teams have somehow managed to make buttloads of money even with a salary cap. The NFL is competitive and the MLB is not. The NFL has a salary cap and the MLB does not.
