Default What the hell is wrong with my router?

Just recently, in the past week or two, my router has been kicking me off aim after a few minutes. I know its my router because when I'm hardwired directly to my cable box it doesn't do anything...and on top of that, I know its not my wireless card because I can still surf the net totally fine. I even connect to my next door neighbor's router and AIM doesn't have a problem when I use their router.

Anything I can do? Its doing it to my roommates too. Does it have something to do with a stupid firewall? I had this router last year and this never happened once so I'm kind of confused why its doing it now...

RB, this happened to me as well. Shut the whole wireless system down. Leave it off for 15-30 minutes. Then start it back up in the following order: 1. modem 2. router 3. everything else

This has to be done every few months. It just cleans out the whole system. For some reason after a few months it goes wacky. Don't ask me why it just does. It's a very common thing. I had this problem a few months ago and posted about it and many others on here have experienced it as well.

Hope that helps

To update Linksys routers, download the bin file to your comp.

Go to your web browser, type: (or just click this)

http://192.168.1.1

Leave user name blank.
Password is: admin

Find tab for upgrade and then point to that file.
