SO, our IT guy came and blocked certain web pages...is there any way to get around that? the internet explorer gives this message..."401 The web site is blocked by administrator"

nothing can be done unless you can gain access to the proxy server.

 

there's going around things, and then there's getting fired...oh well...I don't really need my email at work anyway

 

Can you get in to change the setting of the proxy server?

If so there's free proxy servers out there that you can use.

That's how I get around things here at work. Work here uses a transparent proxy (ie. Nothing is set in the settings) but if you set a diffrent proxy server it'll bypass the transparent proxy all together and allow access :thumbup:

 

If you know the direct address to go to (numeric ip) you can.

Most of their filters block keywords or what the site name was registered as. I remember I was blocked from my own site, but I went direct and it was fione. w00t.

 

they don't here. they are really anal about it. we have 1 guy who is in charge of security and umm to deny access to certain sites.
