RB,

The problem is most people will hold onto Google thinking it's going to continue to skyrocket, so instead of leaving with a cool $70,000 for 2 months of "investment" they leave with like $5,000 for 2 years of investments. Heh.

Say I bought 1,000 shares. That's a cool $70,000 in two months :eek3:
i attempted to get into the IPO, but the raffle/auction style it was done in freaked me out.

there was no price set ... you'd throw out a dollar figure and the number you wanted to buy ... if you bid high enough (and got chosen), you'd get the stock, no matter the IPO. so, if you said ... i want 1000 google shares @ $150 each ... you'd make the purchase completely blind.

3 days before the release, i heard figures as high as $115, some as low as $40.

You're preaching to the choir. I know this all too well.

google extremely innovative, everything they offer to the public is free, and has a huge user base. in the past 4 months, they've unleashed GMail, the desktop search engine, and a popup / adaware blocker. M$ wishes they had that kind of technology.

google is a terrific company and i bet the ad cash is just pouring in.

of course if you did sell within the first 12months, then you would have to pay like 50% tax on it and most likely black listed from any future IPOs for x number of years.
