I have worked and supported apple/mac products first hand. I have personally "seen" their problems. I prefer an industry wide standards... more choices, more options, more support, cheaper prices, more competition, more software and more compatability.

MS didn't design a lot of their own software.

I think I read somewhere back when 95 came out... 70% of it was bought from other companies.

I think your point is that Windows is cobbled together and not really very organized and efficient, and that Mac OS X is more of a unit solution.

Which is the opposite of the truth.

I run Mac OS9, OSX, Linux, BSD, and Windows XP software all on my Apple. If you want to spend more money, but in return get more refinement and cross-platform compatability, go with an Apple.

If you game a lot, you will want to stick with a PC.

Check that out to see what I mean by cross-platform.

I used to use PC's, for about 15 years, and I will never (well I wont say never) buy another PC again.

I can do all that on my BSD machine, which runs on industry standard hardware, cost vastly less than an Apple, is more flexible, and more upgradable.

Yes, I agree, a true BSD or UNIX machine is your best bang for your buck, bar none. The problem is for most users, and I mean *most*, UNIX just isn't a viable solution because it is a little .... non-intuitive.

The installs have gotten very good and automated, but there is still a lot of non-obvious quirky things that are laid out really well in a manual, but a lot of people aren't capable or even willing to figure out the lingo of the man pages to make it work properly.

So, I agree with you - but for an average every day end-user they need more click and less think. =]

With the thousand dollars I saved not buying an Apple, I'm sure I can afford a couple computer classes.

PS: There are manufacturers who sell UNIX and BSD systems, preinstalled. And they support those operating systems.
