so im starting to think that trying to own and modify a turbo'd honda while working part time and being a full time student may have been a mistake. :happysad:
stuff keeps breaking, and i have a feeling my car is gonna nickle & dime me to death :wiggle:
i could be all wrong. im just pissed cuz yet another exhaust gasket (not the wastegate one this time, the one that goes between the manifold and the turbo) blew, and i can't find anyone that has one in stock, and i lost one of the bolts that goes to it and it just pissed me off. once i get rid of my e-manage and get hondata/tuned it should be good, but the way things have been going, probably not. something else will break.
so i got to thinkin.. maybe i should fix the gasket, sell/trade it and quit while im ahead. i'd really like to buy a truck and a motorcycle, but my parents won't allow me to have a bike till i move out (working at a motorcycle performance shop sure doesnt help me wanting the 2003 R6 with full ohlins suspension thats sitting in our showroom :sigh: )
so now im not sure what to do. i love cars, and i love hondas.. i could buy my friend's mostly stock EF si hatch and rock that, or my dads 94 toyota pickup.. 4x4, v6, 5spd.
argh, i dunno. what would you do?
should have kept my integra :kicksself:

If you feel the car is gonna nickel and dime you to death just get rid of it. But then you run the risk of someone POS nickeling and diming you to death. I say you should just scrap the turbo project for the current car.
Turbo Del Sol sounds sick. i saw your pictures in the basement i think?
anyways do what you think is right, not what your other friend(s) wants to do, i have a feeling thats why you may want a bike and such...
The EF would be nice, because if you sell the SOL for a good amount of $ then you will have a lot of $ to mod it.
Trucks are weak. Your a kid, have fun, becuase when you get old your gonna wish you still had that sick little honda...instead of rocking a truck your whole life.
And bike insurance is ****ing ridculoius. I know a kid my age named Mike, who works for an insurance co. and still pays like 5,000 + a year just on insurance, that doesn' count on the price of the bike too.
Wow. hope that helps.
BTW: i hate people who get their insurance raised because of too many points and then they say ' o i wanna sell my car ' because they have a nice honda and think just because it has gotten them the tickets and such that if they sell that then their insurance will drop because they have gotten a dif car.... . . ahh it boggles my mind

i'd say fix the gasket and sell it. and decide if you want the truck or the car personally i would go with whatever is more practical and and YOU would prefer. i'd opt for the truck being that when i go back to hawaii the roads are murder on a lowered car:happysad: plus there is alot more places to go with a 4x4 truck hope that helps
Here I'll help you:
Of course the higher HP you get the more problems you're getting into. Because it takes much more responsibility than having an 140hp Integra. Power is good, isn't it? Clean up everything you see...that is find everything you feel you half-assed on and fix it where you won't have to worry about it for a long time.
As for your gasket. You can do three things:
-Go to the Nissan dealership, ask for the gasket that comes from an '88 300ZX turbo. This is by far the thickest/nicest one I've used. Only reason why it blew out because I didn't torque one of the four bolts enough.
-Go to the Ford dealership, ask for the gasket that came from the 80s model turbo T-Bird. This is a thinner one. It'll work also.
-Last option which people get away with is, don't run a gasket at all. Make sure the flange surfaces from both sides are nice and smooth. Torque it tight enough and you should be fine.
But uh I assume you have a T3 based turbo right? Cos if you don't, uuuuh everything I said won't apply.
h:
As for your car, it's a toughie. It's hard to come back to n/a from the darkside. My advice is fix that gasket, get it tuned (talk to Steve Sakai, he's good at Hondata and we used to help each other on these cars back in 1996) and see how you feel afterwards.
One of the phrases I live by is:
FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED

You've already tied up a lot of money in the honda, why not just finish the job? it seems if youre going to get something else you're going to want to mod it also, so you'll run into a whole different set of problems. I'd stick with what you got, but that's just me.
