Depression is caused either by a chemical imbalance or unresolved issues. The chemical imbalance is easy to fix, unresolved issues takes years of counselling.

But the problem with jokes like that is it furthers what I like to call the 'walk it off' mentality, where somehow male problems should all be ignored because they'll go away through some kind of routine activity, like going out to the bar, having sex, etc. It's also the primary reason why men seek psychological (and physiological) help far less than women.
