You know I gotta say :wopics: of your guitars.

I learnt that trying to play rhythm guitar with a 3mm plectrum is not the smartest of ideas. Unless you detune the guitar down to C# instead of a E tuning, turn the distortion up all the way and then its a really nasty swamp thing like sound. :nervous:

i love the everly picks with the holes in them
they seriously make a world of difference with your picking accuracy
especially with shredding

Yeah I know... it was actually a whim purchase. I figured I'd find the fattest Dunlop pick I could lay my hands on and it was a 3mm. I generally use a 0.6mm Dunlop for rhythm and a heavier 1.0mm for solos. I use the Dave Mustaine philosophy on solos, chromatic scale based pure speed and nothing else. I am far from being a virtuoso, but I can play loud and fast.

Chuck :wtc: RIP he was the guitar God for every heavy metal guitarist. Death/Control Denied will forever be one of my favorite speed metal bands. I used to play technical and did the whole music school thing, even taught guitar for 2 years. But, it just meant too much work to write a song and I figured I'd start playing what sounded good and no what was technically correct.

Off Topic:

I remember reading about Chuck's untimely death and the intro verse from Destiny on the homepage. I pretty much cried like a kid that day, I still can't listen to Destiny without tears welling up.

yeah i get depressed every time i go to emptywords.org and start reading about him
such a travesty
he still had so much to offer
i can't even fathom what he would have created with death after the sound of perseverance
if i could be half the songwriter he was i'd be amazed with myself. how he came up with the music he did is beyond me. i have a hard time with songwriting
he truely had a gift

I hear ya, I sent money to Chuck's mother and his family. I knew it was coming, but no one believed that he would die after recovering so well from the surgery. What hurt even more was that his family couldn't pay the medical bills. To this day I cannot listen to Death or Control Denied without getting tears in my eyes. Only a few of us know who he was, but his mark is there in every single metal guitarist out there today.
