When Buying Computer Parts
I am on newegg and I see a lot of parts that say "OEM Only" vs. retail. What does that mean? If it is the same as cars then OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer...or something like that. But what does it mean when buying computer parts and what makes them different from the same product that is labeled retail?

retail = you get it in retail packaging
OEM = you just get the part and sometimes whatever software is needed.
Buy OEM if it's cheaper, unless you really want the pretty packaging.

I bought my dvd burner OEM and they sent it wrapped in bubble wrap with the Power DVD cd. That's what you get with OEM, compared to instruction manuals and what not
