Did they find a fault line on the eastern border of Cali? Because more than 80% if Cali is on the same plate as the rest of the United States. It is only a small slither that starts in Central Cali that is on the Pacific Plate. IIRC

Imagine filling a glass with an icecube in it all the way up to the brim. When that ice melts, will the water overflow?
