Something like that. I look at Apple as the BMW of the computer world... Sure you can get a machine that's just as fast for cheaper, but it wont be built and work like an Apple. Also, they have comparable market shares here in the US

i prefer intel to AMD for the simple reason that AMD chips, or at least the ones i've had the misfortune of owning, overheat like a bitch. my fiancee's comp is an athlon 1900+ and i have 2 80mm case fans and a volcano 10+ cpu cooler and it still overheats. that's a big  in my book

AMD has better bang for the buck than Intel does. My gaming pc uses an AMD, my work pc an Intel, I have 2 more Intel inside pcs that I need to finish building and my carputer will be AMD based. AMD has its issues, but I can deal with those issues and use the money I saw for better things.

Intel ownz if you disagree you're stupid.

For a moment there I thought this thread was going to get a bit derailed with the RB vs Mperson debacle... that would have been weird. An intel vs amd specific thread that always gets blown out of perportion... overshadowed by a debate about who makes the better jokes, without making it seem like they are making jokes. Story at 11.

And now for my oppinion, as if you thought I could have enough self control to stay out of this one... ha!

Intel > amd. Thank you. Good night.

Seriously though, it's been a while since I built an amd rig, but from my past experiances I've just had trouble with them. Either they overheated and died, not compatable with some add-on cards, software not running right. Sure lots of people can say "oh well it runs fine for me! it must just be you". Ok, well how can I just swap the motherboard and cpu for intel stuff and suddenly things work. They just work.

That's all we all want. We just want things to work. For me, in my experiances, with intel... it just works. I've just been burned by AMD too many times in the past. Hell back in the 486 days I used to be proAMD. Go figure.

I don't see amd as the import and intel as the domestic though. Apple is like from Venus or something. I just see intel as the leader and amd as, making progress but still trying to catch up. Since they both have international R&D and manufactuaing I don't really see one as the "home team".

intel>amd>apple

I guess I'll support Intel simply for the fact that Intel's world headquarters is right down the street from me. All the indian people that worth there hog up the gym though
