Intelligence is what I equate with what you referred to as knowledge, or 'book smarts' if you will.
Common Sense would be what I'd consider more 'street smarts,' although not necessarily.

I suppose you'd have to have some degree of intelligence in order to possess common sense, but someone with common sense knows enough to stay ahead in life, even though he may have struggled to get through Calc I...

 

I always wondered if mentally handicapped people knew if they were or not. Probably not, but how will we ever know?
