you've obviously never smoked pot before, and like ur31337 said, its not like people are going to be smoking up at work, just like you don't get drunk at work.

And quite frankly, I wouldn't mind dealing with anyone while they are high...just becuase you are high doesn't mean you are retarted. I do all kinds of stuff when I'm high, and most people don't even notice.

yeah, the U.S, just loves making stupid bull**** laws, just so cops can arrest people. they have nothing better to ****in do. my opinion is: i like weed, but don't want it legalized, it will lose its appeal kinda i think, and somehow...just some way prices WILL go up, not sure how or why, but it will. I.E less shipments will come in, less people will grow weed, and i guarantee the price will go up. i'll bet money on that! but knowing how this country operates I don't think it will ever be legal.

Default Legalizing Weed

I myself am not for the legalization but the decriminalization of weed. If it becomes legal I feel the government would play too large a role in the production, marketing, and profits involved in weed. say it was available like cigarettes...large tabaccoo companies are constently under investigation into what they are putting into cigarettes ie. chemicals which keep them burning, and nicotine rich tabaccos which are far more addictive. I feel leave it to the growers and consummers to shape the marijuana culture not the government.

I would rather deal with a person who is high than drunk any day.

As for my views on it ...

I think it should be legalized and taxed like tobacco (tobacco is 40% taxes) and controlled like liquor (21 and over, DUI, etc.).

The problem the government has with legalizing it for real is that anyone can grow it anywhere, so they don't have total control over it no matter what.

Some things left out are that the stalk can be used for fabric, oils, and many other things as well. Unlike tobacco it can be grown both year round as well as repeatedly on the same land (tobacco is grown one year and the land has to be fallow for 2 - 3 years).

There are many other reasons why it should be allowed but basically it isn't because tobacco companies as well as alcohol companies would stand to lose billions every year in sales.

The government says its because they don't know what it does and yet they have identified each and every chemical in both the plant as well as the smoke, tobacco has at least 200+ chemicals that can't be identified. There are no carcinogens in marijuana and there have been no deaths directly caused by it.

Yeah its bad to ingest smoke into your lungs so there will be some issues there, but far less than with tobacco, or the damage alcohol does to the system.

Five years ago, pot and other drugs totally destroyed my life. In my case pot was a gateway drug. It also contributed to my not doing anything but sitting at home watching TV. I've since then pretty much quit except for smoking around 5 times. I'm all for experimentation (it's opened my eyes to a lot), and if you can control it, occasional use, but if it becomes a real habit it's a serious problem for a lot of people.

That's the big problem I see in legalizing pot. A lot of people can't control it. I've seen so many people become completely useless, being addicts. I guess it's similar to alcohol, but I see way more burn outs than I do alcoholics.

I always wonder why some societies chose alcohol over marijuana whereas others chose marijuana over alcohol.

...I'll be free of both starting tommorow with my New Year's resolution.
