I don't smoke weed, but I have nothing against if some person wants to all day and forget their kid at the babysitter. I am against it being legalized because we legalized alcohol again and then people became ok with that and now we've moved onto legalizing something else. When we're comfortable with marijuana being legal in a few years, what's next? Cocaine? Heroin? We're just slowly boiling ourselves to death here.

no, they legalized alcohol for the simple fact that prohibition was silly and people were still producing alcohol. prohibition had no real effect. the only thing prohibition really did was turn the average guy that produced and sold alcohol into a "criminal". people still made alcohol and got drunk. they repealed the prohibition of alcohol to generate revenue from something that people are gonna do anyway.

i think the same goes for marijuana. people are gonna grow and smoke pot regardless of restrictions. so, as a government, why not legalize it and tax it? make it more acessible for about the same price and dealers would go out of business or push harder drugs that will put them away for a long time when they get busted.

it's a win-win situation if you ask me.

Well heck, if you put it that way, lets just go ahead and legalize heroin again..or cocaine..people are going to do it anyways, might as well tax them and get the revenue and who CARES about the 12 year olds who find it in their parents nightstand. Let's just go ahead and let them have an early death so the nasty lung cancer can't get them.

this is the on topic forum.... the topic is the legalization of marijuana. not heroine or cocaine. besides... if a 12 year old finds his parents weed stash he/she isn't gonna be knockin over liquor stores tryin to feed his weed habit. tetrahydrocycline(THC, the euphoric substance found in marijuana) is not an addictive substance like heroine or cocaine. plus they'll be too busy giggling uncontrollably or being paranoid to be a menace to anybody.

alcohol is legal, and yet it is definatly more dangerous than weed. its addictive and can people. weed cant.. so personally, it makes more sense to legalize weed, rather than alcohol.
