The Feds require that states conduct emissions tests only in those counties with pollution measuring higher than some limit. IIRC New York does NOT have state-wide emissions testing. I believe it's only required in Orange, Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, Suffolk and NYC.

Massachusetts requires emissions tests every other year state-wide, because all 14 counties are on the Fed's list. (Funny how Berkshire county is on the list, and adjoining counties in New York, Vermont and Connecticut aren't.)

Ha ha, you should live in fayette county if your worried about emissions. I just pull in, guy says "brakes work" I say "yeah, they work good" he says "ok" and takes my paperwork and puts the new sticker on. I know a few places that you don't even have to bring the car in, they just take your paperwork and give you the sticker to put on yourself. We're supposed to get emissions are here eventually but this area sucks (you'd be suprised by the number of cars I see each week that have exhausts hanging down and scraping on the ground) so they won't be able to enforce it.

We have emissions testing here, but it only takes about 10 minutes total to get a car inspected.
I don't mind emissions testing at all...I hate tint laws, though.

those kind of places are nice, until something is really wrong with your car that they don't catch because they looked at 1 thing on your whole car. :wtc:

oh, and Emissions are all around SouthEast PA....it's not a big deal. We've had it here since the beginning of January. You drop your car off and come back later...simple. OR! just take it to a shitplace like mentioned above and not even have it checked.

Back in Montgomery county I've had to get emissions testing since I started driving. My car is VERY close to the emissions limit. Here in Centre county, they just started doing emissions this year. But, because my car is registered in Montco, I can't get inspection/emissions in Centco.
