Very possibly.

There's a 250 GTO replica that shows up at VIR occasionally. You might not know at first look that it's a replica, from a distance or if it's moving.

Ahhh, the Scagglietti Ferrari's. I had the grandiose luxury of "meeting" him if you call a handshake and eavesdropping "meeting" somebody. I listened to him say to Jay Leno in broken accent-filled English at Concours de Elegance...

"I can't believe I'm seeing all of these cars in one place 50 years later. They look better today than they did when I built them".

I have to admit, the cars he helped design are the most amazing of all of the Ferraris.

Y'all are gonna hate me. Wednesday, I drive to Atlanta. Thursday at 6:30 AM, I'm flying to San Francisco, renting a car, driving down the Pacific Highway and going to Monterrey, where I will spend 4 fun-filled days at the Historic Races at Laguna Seca, Concours de Elegance, Concours Italiano, and the Barrett Jackson auctions in Monterrey. This year's featured car... Ferrari.

Edit... Oh yeah, my boss man is lending me a digital SLR to take with me, so I'll be snapping some bad-ass pictures of just about everything I see. Time to upgrade my .Mac account.

Lucky bastard. Will you be in Monterey for the entire time?

I hope so. Monterrey is cool as shit. This event draws the cream of the car crop, and lodging is difficult over this weekend. It's hard to get a room within 50 miles of it if you don't book it 5 months in advance.

Last time I went, I ended up in San Lois Obispo at the Super 8 that was next to the old closed artillery range. It was quiet. Not much there since the military base closed down. It was close enough to everything that it really worked out well. After the event in 2001, I went to MacWorld in San Fran for 3 days and got my employer to pay for it. I stayed 1 block from Fisherman's Wharf on North Point Blvd... did the whole Alcatraz tour and everything. I had more fun than I think I have ever had...

You couldn't pay me enough to move to Cali, but I'll vacation there until I die.

:chuckles:  It'll be a cold one again this year...so be prepared.
North of the Golden Gate, we've been socked in with fog on the coast for the last 10 days. h:
So I'll bet Monterey and Carmel will be in the high 60's - at best.

Man... thanks for the advice. I was just trying to figure out what to pack.

I'm bringing my laptop a the camera, and 4 days worth of clothes for Cali, plus I have to pack another suitcase with clothes for the Atlanta trip where I'll also be staying for two days. Plus I have two 8+hour Richmond-Atlanta road trips to complete because I have family from there and my flight is routed through ATL. So two road trips with two sets of luggage for one guy to travel to two totally different climates from where I live by two totally different modes of transportation is too confusing. I need all the help I can get.

Do you know any zip codes from around that area? I'd like to check weather.com. I have the Atlanta zip code already.

What's this thread about??? OH YEAH! The Lancia...

Concours Italiano is happening on Thursday this week. I'll be sure to get up close and personal with the camera if I see any. I'll probably get to see half of what's left of them.

The Weather Channel's site will actually allow you to search by city name now. I plugged in Carmel, CA...since it's closer to the Pebble Beach range, and is a little less protected than Monterey.

You may be in luck, after all. h:

This weekend they're in the low 70's. :chuckles:

there is a remote possibility but I doubt it.

I've seen McLaren F1s here, while vastly cheaper than the 250GTO there are some crazy collector in Blackhawk.

There's this little German company from the town where Dr. Frankenstein attended school, which was making vehicles with awd and turbo well before Lancia bothered to do so. You might recognize them.
