messes with my head. I was told it'd give me more energy if i take it at night, but instead it makes me groggy and irritable all the next day
Hmm...I never hd that effect and I always took one and sometimes two (big guy).
I always woke up refreshed with no "hangover" at all. Maybe your body doesn't process it correctly. Are you getting at least 7 hours sleep when you take it?

Eating habits can really screw with what kind of sleep you are getting and sometimes will cause you not to hit REM sleep.

well, i wouldnt say that my sleep is messed up.... i just feel tired all the time. They thought I had Chronic fatigue at first, now my doc thinks i'm depressed and should take prozac. I sorta took melatonin as a last resort after some suggestions from friends/family.
