120gb for $70

already have the following ide hdds
a few maxtor 40gb i use for school and 1 currently for windows and programs
1 200gb seagate for backup and media
1 200gb maxtor unopened. picked it up for $100

 

i dunno should you?

sounds like you don't need it yet. just wait until you need it. the prices will continue to drop.

yes that's a great price and yes WD sata's are sweet. I use nothing but from now on.

But unless you need it, save the money.

I'd steer clear of Western Digital if I were you. In my experience (5 years in IT, 30+ years in broadcast engineering), WD drives fail more often than any other brand.

 

for consumer use, it has never failed me.

 

Unfortunatly that's a debate that can roll on for hours and days. Everyone has their own experiance.

I've personally never had a WD drive fail, but I've had failures from most of the other big names, Maxtor, IBM, Segate, Quantum, Hitatachi and some smaller named onces. I use only WD drives for the past 5 years and have never had a failure. Most of the computers I have my WD drives in are on 24/7.

I'm not looking to start a debate, but I give a :thumbup: for WD and a :a: for everyone else. My experiances.
