The US is not the be all end all of the car purchasing market. Although we make up a great number of the market there are many countries not so hung up on some stupid fukking name as we are and the prestige that goes with the reputation of the company.

Dressing a pig in silk clothes makes it no less a pig...so what I am saying is even a Maybach is just another Benz, an Infiniti is still just another Nissan etc.

I guarantee you its not just the US stuck on "some stupid fukking name". I'm willing to bed that if Honda of Japan did the same thing as the US and released an Acura brand, they'd sell more of the upscale cars.

Yes it does and the reason being is that in order for Honda to sell a 40k vehicle in the US it had to add the Acura division stateside. In Japan the upscale cars came out and sold just fine while still retaining the Honda badging.

Although the car names themselves are different (and more unique than the crap names we get) they do offer many of the same cars. You may not see the exact same models all the time because market demand in the country may make the selling of a certain model a guaranteed loss vehicle so they adjust accordingly. You also have to remember that Japan has smaller roads so to sell a TL on their market may not make sense (just example) simply based on the width and length of the vehicle making t impossible to manuever for most people there.

Last I heard, they were selling six a month...worldwide.

If you were shopping for a luxury sedan, would you consider a VW? I didn't think so. The car is getting rave reviews from nearly every automotive critic, but there's a huge perception problem. No one considers VW a luxury brand.

I really don't care for the Phaeton... because the justification for its existence is utterly daft. After all, they already have an very nice luxury saloon in that price bracket...it's called the A8L. h:

I'd have taken the budget for the Phaeton and developed an MR coupe/convertable to battle the Miata / MR2. Something along the lines of the R32, except an MR with a usable trunk.

Bugatti has an agreement with VW but I can't exactly remember if it is owned by VW or not.....it very well may be though.

Saw one on the bridge a while back, it doesn't look that bad. But it's a bit much for a Vee Dub.
