Any Nader fans in here?
I've started doing my research on whom I'd like to vote for this election.
Started looking at Nader to see what he's got to say.
Your thoughts on Nader?
Save what you like about the subject but keep your posts clean and the emotions at bay.

Enjoy giving your vote to Bush if you vote for Nader.
Nader I find runs more on the platform of, "you hate the other guys more than me".
I don't even think he made it onto the Oregon ballot this time around and I know the green party pulled all backing from him for some last minute guy I have never heard of.

I think Nader accomplished a great deal with his book Unsafe at Any Speed. He ended the era of Detroit's "devil-may-care attitude", which came to a head with the Corvair - which truly was a dangerous, ill-designed product.
And despite this, I simply cannot connect with his platform in the 21st Century.
He's way outside the political mainstream, and - for me - he's direly lacking in charisma. His cohorts, Claybrook and Ditlow are not my favorites either.
If you can't connect to your consitituents, there's little point in running at all.
h:
Historically, 3rd party candidates - with the exception of H. Ross Perot - have not shown much skill in drawing a statistically significant number of votes.
So in short, no. He's certainly entitled to run for office, but he's always been a longshot.

I think Nader really is out there (like others have said) and he doesn't do anything for the election except suck votes away from the other two parties. People keep talking about a 3-Party System but I think it's obvious the Green Party (as much as their name pops up) just doesn't have the support of the people to be that 3rd Party- meaning that in the end there will never be enough people to elect their candidate. That's because the Demo-Republican parties have been doing the job well enough since the formation of our government- Bush's performance not withstanding. At least that's my opinion I guess. But regardless of my opinion, it's a fact that Nader isn't going to win in his lifetime and it's probably a safe bet that the next candidate won't ever win. Just how it is.
