Wow. It worked. Thanks for the tip. It looks like the same engine as HAN now.

My roommate (very dim roommate) is upgrading to a GM MAF... but he probably doesn't have what you are looking for.

$%!@# rotaries.... j/k

I'lll let you know before I hit the track. If Dinwiddie isn't rained out on Saturday morning again, I'm going to try to run it there. I don't qualify to run at Richmond this weekend.

The logger is great because it lets you monitor your injectors. You need to do that in order to find the right fuel map on the translator. You can get it running without it, but it won't run as well as it can with it. I'm living proof, but my car runs really rich.

Hm.. i know good and bad aspects of your MAF translator. Mostly bad, before my friend sold his 91 Tsi AWD, he had the GM translator on there, before he changed the turbo. Seemed nice at first, untill it gave him 3 full revvs at every stoplight, something was screwy wit his. He stops, foot off gas, *revv revv revvvvvv* guy next to him looks at him like a moron. Just for the record, i prefer dsmtuner.com for tech realyed topics, just my preference. I go to DSMtalk when i want to whore around . Best of luck with the dsm :goodjob:

At least you guys can get translators. 86-91 RX-7's (and 84-85 GSL-SE's) have stock flapper type AFM's that you can't get rid of or swap, short of a full aftermarket EMS.

So, you're saying my roommate is going to need one of those little buggers too? That's amusing, because he runs 17-21 psi, hasn't bothered to tune his S-AFC, had his BOV adjusted to tight to actually blow off... I'm just waiting for his engine to blow up so I can have a good laugh at him. For a week.

I ran 18-21 PSI (boost spiking) for a year on a stock motor with NO fuel management outside of a Walbro 255lph fuel pump, had stock injectors but a bigger turbo. Never had a problem with EVER running lean. I was running about 13% rich at all times, but could hit fuel cut if I didn't let the car warm up first. EGT's never broke 850°c either. I was really surprised at how well the stock ECU compensated for all the extra airflow.

His turbo is going to blow up long before his engine will. You may only be able to laugh at him for a day or two. What turbo is he using? Please tell me it's not a T-25.

I have a 2g Extreme UICP and a 1g BOV that holds 18 PSI in my shed with couplers and a bigger throttle body elbow if he's interested. I'm letting it go cheap to a local. I sold my matching lower IC pipe and J-pipe already.

On a side note to this thread... I did finally get the fuel map in the right neighborhood... at least... a safe neighborhood. I'm still running as rich as my car did before, so I still need to tune it, but at least now I can drive it again.

He's running the "big" 16G, and a Greddy Type S BOV.

WTF is a UICP?

Upper Intercooler Pipe. I believe it's the pipe that connects to the intake manifold, which has the BOV on it.
