that would also solve the heat build up issue. heat build up is the main reason why the chunnel trains can't go faster than 60mph (or was it 70mph) in the chunnel. they already have gigantic AC units cooling the tunnel.

yes a vacuum will take away air resistance, therefore almost "pulling" the train through the tunnel @ speeds of ~5K miles/hour. it would have gradual acceleration for the first and last 750 miles.
oh and if anything were to collide with the tunnel, they said the train would be miles away from the point of impact because of such high-speed.
