If this system is stable enough under OS X, why not scrounge around for another 3 or 4 external SCSI drives? h: I can't think of a cheaper way to find compatible storage. Or you could restore an old SCSI-2 RAID arrray. h:

I'm still clinging to OS 9.2.2 on the G3, and 7.6 / 7.5.3 on my 1400c. Color me old fashioned. :chuckles:

Once again, nice work.

I still run OS 9.1 on my G4 Ti h:

Well, you've heard the saying "they don't build them like they used to..."

Sometimes old technology is perfect for the job. And I don't care what anyone says about Macs, OS X Server is cool no matter what it runs on. I'm running directory services for the XP boxes in my house with it, as well as the Macs.

As for the rubber tires... They're not quite 100 years old. My Great Great Great Grandfather is Harvey Firestone. He invented them. I just find it interesting that you used that analogy without knowing that. Firestone is my mom's maiden name.

Wow... in 1992, I can remember running a Mac Classic, and paying nearly $230 for the RAM expansion board and two 1MB SIMMS. h:

I remember being envious of my neighbor's overclocked IIfx, running Photoshop 3(?) filters in only an evening as opposed to a weekend. :chuckles:

yeah it was not fun. the only thing that made it half way decent was the scsi drives 10,000 rpm seagates

the system did nothing but share my internet, and run my ftp server (when it was up)

i had no sound card and you couldn't watch any videos.

As for being old. We upgraded my friends dad's old 8088 to an 80286. it had 512k of memory. it was smoooth. We knew how to party down back in high school.

I finally retired my old Pentium Pro machine a week or so ago when I built my girlfriend one of those shuttle SFF systems. I bought it I believe in '96. Came with a 3.2G HD, I later added a 6.4G one. Always run fine on 64Meg of RAM. 4mb 2d graphics and a 12mb Vodoo2 3dFX card. Came with win95 and had win98 first and second editions. The 6.4 HD started to fail so I decided to just replace it with a new system rather than fix it. With a memory upgrade, it probably would have supported XP (it's well above the specs for Win2000 Professional).

Pentium 60 was the first pentium chips, I used to have one. It finally stop seeing use only a year or two ago.
