Accident at work, what to do?
A few weeks ago, there was an accident at my place of work. The management had us doing a job that is against so many regulations, it amazes me that they arent shut down right now. I didnt do it much, they had two friends of mine do it every day untill this accident. I dont want to say what it was, or where it was, but you can figure it out from my profile...
When one of my friends was doing this..job.. (for the last time), the inevitable occured, something that my parents had been warning us about ever since they found out we were doing it. He is now in the burn center in milwaukee for a month, and two spectators that happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time got injured pretty nasty too... But what i dont know about, is that osha (sp?) seems to not know a fact that only i know... when i was on a break a few days before the accident, i noticed something that was the cause of the accident. They seem obvlivious of this fact, which makes sense, if they just sat down and looked at how everything turned out, sort of... the chain of events. Ok, i just realised that this is pointless without me giving details... Im sorry about sounding like a moron in this, im just trying to give the main details. Basically, should i tell osha about this, even though im being harassed by my ex manager for quitting the day of all of this? (She is threatening that if i dont come back, she will tell the jobs i apply for, if i put this one down as experience that is, that i was "a piss poor worker" and "f%$ked her over bad"). I suppose i just wont put them down under previous jobs. The representative gave my friend who still works there, the one who wasnt injured, his card, so im thinking about stealing the number, and just calling anonymously. Good idea? Bad idea? I would really appreciate any kind of help on this from anyone. I just feel that i need to do this, im really feeling guilty, like i could have prevented this accident... i need to do something.. If you really need details, i suppose i can give them..

First off, its illegal for your old employer to say anything bad about you. My mom is a vice president and hires a lot of people, and legally she can't say anything good or bad about old employees.
Secondly, if anyone should be harassing anyone, its you harassing them for you working in unsafe conditions.

Can you tell us about it? I don't think people you know will find this at all. But yea, what Arby said, old employers cannot say anything about you in a opinion sort of way. They can only tell them that you have worked for them doing such and such. Any opinions by the employer must be made by the consent of the employee and while they are still employed.

Theres an example. Wrong city name, wrong age, and they make it look like it was all his idea.
