Default Keep or Sell 98 Beetle?

My mom owns a 98 Beetle and it has 126,000 miles on it and since we have bought the car all it has been is a problem, First the buttons and covers for items on the inside of the car are falling off, second we need to replace the transmission and did it our selfs since the dealer was way over priced and than we also had to pay 90 some dollars for the transmission fluid. I was wondering if this car is just trobble and we should get rid of it or if its a good car just going thought some problems? And also its a real pain working on them beocuse there is no extra room under the hood.

Get a honda or acura they're cheaper to fix and usually have less problems than other cars

If nothing is currently broken on the car I would get rid of it before something does go wrong. You just sunk a bunch of money into it and every day that you hold onto it will put more wear and miles on it, which will decrease its value even further. Either sell it privately or let CarMax take it. But yeah, get rid of it and buy something reliable (i.e. not another VW).

Not less problems just different problems. Although VW has a quality issue it is being resolved (slowly).

Why do I hear so many horror stories about VW? My sister, my best friend, and I have not had any problems at all with ours? Are we lucky? They've run like a dream.
