He could easily make something like say a garbage can in a bigger garbage can. Just slowly fall, their would be a buffer of air between the cans so it's not touching something that's touching the ground.

How about an arrangement of big, strong, same charge magnets. If positioned correctly, they can let him hover indefinetly.
