all of the money i've put into my car were for repairs and normal maintenance. I recently re-did the suspension, which cost a bunch.

however, i expect to keep my car for 3 more years, so im expecting what i pay today to save me cash down the line. getting a new or used car is even more expensive than maintaning what i have right now.

however, the number is staggering.

Yeah, it is. It actually surprised me.

I sat down and got out all my receipts. In seven months of having the car, I've dumped $5862 into it, including engine repairs, but not including trivial stuff like oil changes and gasoline.

 Bad idea. I'm not even near done either.

My bank account has been hurting. I need to start saving more.

$1

Was my dad's old car, he was going to trade it in towards his new car. I told him to sell it to me instead, BMW wasn't offering much for a trade (car was in rough shape mechanically, hence $1200 in engine work but runs mint now exept for an ECT valve  ), so for the $1 minimum he sold it to me and transferred titles.

Great deal, part of the reason why I can see myself putting a lot of money into this.

I didn't even add those in since they aren't installed yet. I also have a complete tune up and new valve cover gasket to factor into the equation. The good news is that I'm still under the $1800 book value.
