Tips for running own business
I'll be heading over to the west coast in Vancouver to run two small Italian restaurants for my Uncle. He owns a few of those out in BC but wants me to gain experience in the field. I'm just going to do it for 2-3 months then I will come back to finish my final year at U. If I like it, my parents say they will loan me money to buy start a some over there.
You guys that work by yourself, do you have any tips?
All I know is that my uncle want me to learn from the bottom so I will have to learn a bit of every little task from washing dishes, mopping the floor, working the cash to doing the nightly paperwork. I already know bartending.
So if anyone here could give me some heads up advice, stuff that you learned, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

oh, and the most important think i've learned is to treat your customers how you want to be treated. i know you hear this all the time but the one thing ive learned is the most important business you can get from customers is repeat business. i went from 99% of my business being referrals to about 40% being repeat customers in a year. thats because ive been willing to sacrifice to make the customer happy knowing that they'd be coming back because they were satisfied and know that i'll make sure theyre happy no matter what
Be honest.
I work on average 12hours a day. On saturdays and sunday I only work 6-8 hours.
It's your business. If don't set an example for everyone else, then the business will most certainly fail.
If you succeed then look back and think how well you did. If you fail, so what. You are still young. Try again, maybe something different or the same but be more aggressive. Fortunately you have time on your side and also some financial backing.
Take the opportunity and run with it! Good luck man.

Werd, man. I'll be making some sacrifices in the next month or so. Will have lots of responsibilities due to being a co-owner of a business. :rick:
