I would rather not live my life by military rules.

I am not in the military for a reason and the last thing I want to do is worry about some warhawk getting his pansy ass feelings hurt because not everyone obsesses about how to fold a flag or because some monkey wears BDUs by choice.

Thats a nice little poem, but is is not the soldier who has given us freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom to demonstrate. And, in fact, if Hanoi Jane was standing on the steps of the capitol building burning a flag, she would be guilty only of ... nothing. She would be taking advantage of the constitutionally-guaranteed rights that soldiers are employed to defend. Thats nice, though.

The men who wrote them down and adopted them as law, one of whom you quote in your sig.

ManInCamo this is to you man, :irock: :usa: . Back when I was in high school there were these kids (Macedonian, I think) that would not stand for the national anthem and talk during it. Let's just say that they weren't doing so good after school. I see it like this, if you come here from whatever country, you should have even more respect for US because you are now yourself an American.

The men and women of our armed services, past and present give us the rights.

Last I heard Ben Franklin was a ptriot for the republic and an inventor. I recall him never having put on a uniform also if my memory serves me correct.

No I don't think that is entirely true.

The men and women of the armed services protect our rights but they do not give us our rights. If that were the case than each soldier would be able to create and pass laws of their own accord
