You are right we are at a war on terrorism and this is exactly the point I am trying to make here.
Iraq had what is right now known as limited dealings with Al-Qaeda yet Pakistan has harbored and financially helped them and the evidence is right there staring in our faces.
So in the light of this news what happens? Do we attack Pakistan for their actions? No instead we make them non NATO allies which puts them in a strongly favored position.
Are you seeing the hypocrisy of this yet? and how can you possibly justify this kind of thing happening. If the wire got it 3 hours ago then that means the information was in the governments hands long before that announcement was made and they had time to react and pull the favored nation status from Pakistan.

I post one more quote and article regarding this then I gotta get to packing for my trip.
President Bush on Thursday disputed the Sept. 11 commission's finding that there was no "collaborative relationship" between Saddam Hussein and the al Qaeda terrorist network responsible for the attacks.
"There was a relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda," Bush insisted following a meeting with his Cabinet at the White House.
"This administration never said that the 9-11 attacks were orchestrated between Saddam and al Qaeda," he said.

That is right. Where did he ever say that Iraq was involved in 9-11. All that was said is that they support terrorism and were harboring Al Queda members when we attacked Afghanistan.

I'm gonna say, that as CinC, the pres knows a good bit more, and is privvy to more information that you or I could conceive, via FBI, CIA, NSA, State Dept (of course half of those 'don't exist' )
As far as Pakistan, you have to understand the way we do things. Everything is not always black and white. We play in the grey mud a lot. If something is strategically more important, we will white wash it and use it to our advantage. IE: Pakistan. It was stategially more important to use them as an allie, even if we had to muscle them a bit, in order to gain important grounds, air strips, intel, etc.
We actually go over stuff like this in some of my military classes

Not going to be an easy sell at all and right now his credibility as wel as most of his cabinet is shot in the foot by their own guns.
I can just see Colin Powell standing in the background looking like ~> :chuckles:

Iraq had every right to refuse entry to the US troops into their borders and the US instead of dealing with it and working around it declared a war on the country...merely on suspicion and no evidence whatsoever. So now they move Pakistan into a most favored nation position after it has already shown itself to only ally itself with whoever is paying the bills....so in a year or two are they going to ally with N Korea if the price is right?
You see my point here at all?

We're technically still warring with N.Korea
We keep some 55k troops on the border
My buddy's over there now.
Although they're rotating a lot of those guys into Iraq, including my buddy.
he's a Chem/bio weapons guy... goes into the field before others, and checks and makes sure the area is clear...
He gets an M4, and a pat on the back.
