When I got into my wreck in March the woman wanted $1500 to fix her car when all it had was a scuffed bumper. That was more than the repairs on mine... new driver's side door, repairing driver side back door and repairing the frame. You can make a quote under the table, just have your insurance company send out an adjuster. An adjuster usually gets sent out if the other person makes a claim out of pocket to you.

well, talking with police when a similar situation happened, if she has no witnesses, and wants to play hardball... have him call his insurance company and report it that she hit him.

his word vs hers. If there's no police report, no witnesses available, and its after the fact, then he can deny anything _ I wouldn't normally suggest that, but she's totally trying to rip him off.

Yeah...I'd act like it never happened...and make sure none of her paint was on my car, 'cause then she could just drive anywhere and act like it was a hit and run.

Well if it has been longer than 24 or 48 hours then they are both guilty of failure to report an accident.

So if she wants to play hardball then tell her to provide her estimates in writing from the sources. Then counter with any estimates you can get and tell her that is your final offer (the cheapest of course). If she doesn't like that then tell her to go file a report with her insurance agent and then give her the insurance info she needs from him.

She will be cited for failure to report an accident and he may as well but its a lot cheaper than what she is asking from him.
