Why do CDs get scratched...

Yes, and I listen to it a lot. Then I rub it cherishingly with a cloth diaper every night before I go to bed.

I have a cd case that holds 200 CDs...i have 243 stuffed in there. A lot of my CDs are scratched

I bet that at the atomic level when coming into contact they must both loose atoms, so in effect it can scratch something
