Default Need advice on Digital Cameras

Aright, I know a lot of you have digi cams so I thought this would be a really good place to ask. I've got some extra money kickin around and I think I'm gonna buy a digital camera.

Now I know most of you camera buffs on here take really artsy pictures and need really high qulity cameras with all kinds of exposure settings and features and stuff.

I don't really need any of that stuff, I'm basically gonna use this camera for taking pics of cars and girls that I see around town.

I just want it to be able to take pics of decent quality, and it would be nice if it was relatively small and durable so that I could carry it in my pocket at all times. Budget wise lets say about $150, but of course as always cheaper is better.

So do you guys have any suggestions?

depends if you want zoom or not

2.0 megapix will yield good 4x6 prints if you choose to print them out at walmart etc..

i have the sony U30 and it takes ok pics but if you dont hold it super steady it will blur and theres no zoom either.

i thought about the pentax optio s :dunno:

i would have to say any of the digital elphs by canon. but $150 is not going to get you that much. if you just want the camera your lookin around $200 min and thats just basics. then you have memory and batteries and other accessories.

i dunno how the prices are there but over here for a durable digi cam that has zoom is around $200. go to your nearest future shop and take a look around.

ok well i went and checked it out it seems you guys pay a little bit more for stuff in canada.

budget wise you can go with the Kodak EasyShare CX7220 2.0MP Digital Camera. it has 2x optical soom thats a plus. if you want to zoom you want optical not digital. they all have digital but digital stretches the pixels out to get you closer. pictures dont look as good. as for it being 2mp you can only get a high quality 5"x6". you can get an ok 8"x10" but it would be better if you stepped up to a 3mp for that. it runs on 2 aa batteries. i do suggest rechargable but thats up to you. the rechargables last longer.
memory wise they have a built in 16mb on high it will get you about 12-16 pics. i wouldnt lower the quality because you are just lowering the megapixel when you do that and pictures wont be as good. leave it on hi kodak has a good compression anyways. i do recomend a 64mb but i dunno if you take pix alot. as for the being still part. usually if its under 3mp or $300 its a lil slow on the auto focus. making you spend more money of course.

its pretty late so thats all i can think of right now. any other ???

stay away from those all in one aptek or concord digi cams they are mainly portable webcams with crappy quality.
