PoA review: 7th try
--SPOILERS--
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
let me start off by saying there arent many good book adaptations
LOTR, Batman, Superman, Blade 1, Xmen, and Spiderman are good movies that come to mind, with the exception of xmen loosely following the original story (but thats been done before)
i knew not to expect a close interpretation of the book and as a movei i enjoyed it, tho it was hard, until the end - where most of movei's action takes place - to sit still and not think "thats not how it goes!"
id recommend it to people of any age, especially people who are into witchy stuff and/or magic
things i didnt like about the movei:
dumb ending
i feel very strongly they shoulda showed them going home for the summer
when the boggart turned into a dementor on harry lupin shouldve stopped the boggart before it transformed, and the explanation about changing into he-who-must-not-be-named woulda worked better
the patronus charm was "very advanced magic"
i didnt like the way harry managed it after a couple tries
this girl sat next to me and brought in a stank ass pretzel that smelled of goat cheese and toe jam and it stank throughout the movei
my gf said it smelled like a yeast infection
i got her back by farting a couple times :fart:
things i didnt like about the movei as a follower of the books that i feel are worth noting:
harry was sposed to be blacked out from the train until after the sorting
no sorting
no diagon alley
not enough percy, fred, and george
not enough quidditch
when harry asked lupin about the boggart and lupin gave that excuse about "he was afraid it would turn into 'voldemort' harry shouldve had a reaction to the mention of vodlemort's name
fear of speaking the name of voldemort is significant, specially in year 5 which i expect to see in the movei
the essence of sirius black having been a prisoner of a hardcore prison was not conveyed
in the book he spent 12 years in a life sucking prison and when he escaped he appeared skeletal
imo there was more emphasis on making him look like a psycho than truly desperate convict
location of dormitory entrance
PoA does well as a stand alone movei but it doesnt mesh well with its prequels :dunno:
things i didnt like about the movei being a sequel:
new castle
new location of hagrid's cabin
new location of whomping willow
too many lakes around
i liked the first castle and landscape more better
but that is not to say i didnt enjoy it
i apologize for the criticisms of a zealous follower
lots of stuff was cutout and i wonder how theyll manage year 4 adequately
