Who's flaming? That would imply some kind of actual argument as opposed to nitpicking, and personal insults and such. I'm pretty sure we mean the same thing and are simply being more wordy than necessary, hence the nits which are being picked.

As for stereotyping, I did no such thing. The person who wrote it is clearly a right wing war hawk inspired by all of the politicized patriotism that was flying around over the Memorial Day weekend.

Oh yay, let's continue with the personal insults because we can't defend our position!

And I already said, nope, no stereotyping here. There's no way anyone even remotely left of center could have possibly written that article. There is a fundamental reverence for war and distaste for the modern media which are hallmarks of contemporary conservative rhetoric. That is all.

or perhaps the writer is simply fed up with the negative spin that is put on everything in the news and used this as an example because of the D-Day anniversary. your stereotypes are showing mike.

No one... yet. And I prefer to keep it that way.
You following the statement "As for stereotyping, I did no such thing" with a stereotype. Good call!

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=stereotype

If I said something like, "oh, if that guy likes fried chicken then he must be black," then I would be making a stereotype.

HOWEVER.

There are certain characteristics, opinions, whatever, which are known to only be held by one side of the political spectrum. Sure, I used pejorative terms but they're still saying a specific thing based on specific elements.

so you're saying that "right wing war hawk" doesn't fall under the definition of a stereotype? me thinks you need to reread that definition.

and maybe change your major from english to something else

It's a pejorative term, not a stereotype, and that's the last bit of qualifying of my statement that I'm going to do.
