Default My first attempt to install a HD ever....

Well, I plugged in the IDE and PS cables, screwed in the grounding screws, closed everything and turned on the computer. A little window above the system tray said "new hardware found - wd xxxxxxx" so it detected my HD. The problem is that the drive doesnt show up in 'my computer'.

What can I be doing wrong? Any help is appreciated.

btw, here's my system:http://reviews.designtechnica.com/re..._specs744.html

go to the start menu, right click on my computer, and click manage.
under storage, go to disk management, you should see your new hd in there somewhere.

yep, disk 0 is the system disk, so i set the pin setting on disk 1 is dual slave, as they share an ide cable.

ok, but did you reset the pin on the system disk so that it doesn't think its the only hdd? Set the system disk to dual master.

Well, we do know the system is detecting the HD so try going into a command prompt and try to format the new HD
