Default cooking......

so, yeah my parents are out of town, so i have to cook my own food. i can do easy things, but i just havn't had any experience with "real" food. yesterday i marinated a boneless chicken breast and cooked it. i just cooked it in the rest of the marinade. considering it was the first chicken i had ever cooked, it was amazing, my brother even liked it and wanted some. i was please with it.

so today i decided to marinade more chicken, i put three in the marinade, it was basically the same marinade that i used yesterday. i just guessed on what to throw in there since i had never done any of this before. so i went to cook one of the breasts, but i couldn't cook it in the rest of the marinade since some were still sitting in there. i added some brandy to cook it in, but that sizzled up real fast. i had some oil in there too to cook in. but all of a sudden, my whole house filled with smoke (smoke is still everywhere, it's funny cause nothing burned down) but yeah someone help me on how to cook this stuff. what can i put in the pan to help it cook so it doesn't turn my pan and the chicken completely black again. or just tell me how to cook a marinaded (marinated, which ever is it) chicken breast cause i'm a newb :happysad:

fyi, i'm only 19, it's about time i start learning to cook good stuff. i love cooking, just need to get good at it.

So when is your coming out party? (j/k)

Everytime I go home I usually get assigned to make dinner one night because no one usually believes I can cook my own food and its edible,

How big is your pot? Sometimes if you use a pot thats too small it happens. I think you don't have enough marinate to do 3 at a time. Also adding stuff to a hot pan is not a smart idea.

your basic meal is pretty easy to make, but I'm so lazy that I rarely do it. Throw some chopped veggies (broccoli, etc) into a medium pot and steam them. Bake some chicken with your favorite seasonings and/or marinades. Get some pasta roni or some other semi prepared pasta that has a sauce.

Total time is probably half an hour and you've got a fairly well balanced meal.
