Man I had to try really hard not to let my eyes well up since my gf is watching tv next to me. I don't have a dog now but I had one my whole life until I was about 17, then our two dogs passed away within a couple months of each other. A few years ago my girlfriend worked at a local animal shelter. It's true, older dogs and cats stand almost no chance against puppies or kittens, although dogs are much more likely than cats to get adopted in general. I decided to adopt two kittens a couple of years ago, a brother and sister who were sick and had already lost a sister to illness. I got kittens because they require less support and attention than dogs and at this time that's what I can provide. Adopt a pet, if you can and will support it and love it!
