Default Comp problems once again...grr

Well i think i finally figured out whats wrong with my pc. I think my HD is going out. Its a WD 80 gig HD. BOught it last year. THis saturday as i was trying to load up UT2004 it crashed on me twice. It said "back up files immediately, failure is immenent" or something like that as i restarted it, that was from the Smart Scan before windows loads up. Then i tried to go into Safe mode and it didnt alow me, it just froze. I also cannot delete the 5 gig folder of UT2004 that was created but never finished. Any ideas? I"m gonna back up my stuff on a few dvd roms that my friend gave me alogn with his external dvd burner. I found these new HD:
WD 160 HD

DVD Burner

What do you guys thinK? also any ideas on the HD issue? i checked with new egg and it says 3 year manufactuer warrenty, so i'm gonna try and claim taht, if not i'll try and get an RMA from newegg though it has been 14 months sincei bought it.

i've heard of way too many WDs crashing to be comfortable with them. find another brand if you replace.

could be any number of things, really. run HD scans, check power supply usage, etc. see if you come up with anything.

Allright lets get some more information, what fie system did you use and what os do you have and what dose the rest of your set up contaion becouse this can also be caused by ram, changeing the files system alot espically when useing a daul linux windows boot and this can also be caused by your PSU.

A file system is how the hard drive organizes the information on the drive, theres FAT32 and NTFS, since your running XP i would most likely to be safe to assume that you are running NTFS
