Default common nissan probs?

hey, i friend of mine asked me to look at a 93 altima (auto) that she is thinking about buying for 2k. i talked to the girl who is selling it and she said her dad keeps it tip top. so im gonna give it a real visual and check, and maybe drive it around. anyone know what i should look for in particular? i know the CV boots are a weak point. im doing this tomorrow so i would need any info ASAP. thanks in advance.

oh yeah, it has 160K on it. but she just needs it for random local stuff and she is only gonna have it for less than a year.

altimas can take a lot of abuse, just make sure the tranny isnt slipping, and if it has like 180k miles or more the timing chain may need to be replaced. i love mine and can honestly say id buy another one, just not an automatic this time. but i say go for it, its a great cheap reliable car.

ive heard people with over 250k miles on the original chain, the KA engine is one strong engine and can take anything u throw at it.

they have a very stout drivetrain, and i've never heard of any problems with the altima in particular...

First year of the 1st-gen Altima? Shouldn't you pass, go looking for a 94 or 95 maybe?
