i've been on a "sam adams light" kick lately. i vaguely remember new castle from back in the day (college). can't seem to remember the taste.
another one of my favorite beers is long trail. but man, i haven't had long trail since fall.

I make my own beer. Last one I did was a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale clone and I currently have a Sam Adams clone in the secondary fermenter.
5 gallons of beer = $15 for malted grain + $6 for hops + $5 for yeast. = $26 for 52 beers. mmmm.

Yeah but then you have to spend all that time like brewing it and stuff. That is highly contradictory with the principles of lazyness with which I conduct my life. :chuckles:
I am in the middle of my 3rd pint of Guiness Extra Stout :yum:

Rodenbach Grand Cru was my favorite beer, used to cost me about $100 a case and had to special order it. Averaged about $5.00 a bottle.

Here are some reviews of it:

Recently acquired bottle from my Brothers trip to Belgium (Thanks!). Why dont they import this truly remarkable brew? Wonderful amber/red in color, nose sour as expected for the style. Taste was superb, sour cherry, slight balsamic vinegar in there too. It finishes as well as the start. If you can get your hands on this, do yourself a favor and buy out the store!

Equipment: 33 cL bottle served chilled in a Brewer’s Art chalice Appearance: A clear brownish red liquid topped by a small tan head. Dissipates to a layer of foam after a minute or so. Small fingers of lace attempted to form, but ultimately stopped Aroma: Powerful aromas of funky brett, wood, vinegar, cherries, and raspberries. She’s a harsh mistress and lets you know this upfront. Flavor: Mindblowingly tart cherries and raspberries with doses of balsamic vinegar, tannins, twigs, pits, seeds, oak, and heaps of funk. Hoo-yah! Aftertastes of funk. Palate: Very light in body and quite puckering due to the high acidity. Overall: If New Belgium was using this as their model for La Folie, they nailed it. High acidity = one a night for most peeps. I’ll definitely try this one again. It’s certainly an acquired taste, one I’m still working on. I hope my secret source still has some lying around.

Sour fruity nose, poured a deep red with a quickly vanishing white head. Surprise surprise - sour cherry flavours with a sour bitter finish. Bah, now I have to go back to the 'ordinary' Rodenbach to see which one I prefer. Good.

Dark chestnut red, beige lasting head. Nose is very sour and wineous. Medium body, sour, wineous and dry flavor. Not a thirst-quencher but decent beer, altought too sour for me.

This beer has a red/brown body - hue apperance and a fine light red scum collar. I have drunk the beer from the bottle and it had a low carbonic acid. The initial flavor taste is very acid and i don't like this beer at all.

Clear brownish red body. The head is pillowy and light tan. No need to bury your nose in the glass to smell this one. Hugh sour cherry, vinegary aroma. The flavor is quite tart but very nice. Far and away the best of this style I have had. Body is medium and dry, but the tartness dominates. Very, very, good stuff. Yum.

Aroma strikes from an arms length away! Dark cherries. The kind with the stones left in and maybe out in the sun a bit too long...but this is a good thing! Vanilla, oak, perfumey floralness...sublime and complex nose. Color is a gorgeous ruby red, with slightly brownish tones. Carbonation is light and a tan head forms but fades fast. A nice dense ring sticks to the sides of the glass however. This beer begs to be tasted! Tart, acidic, puckering taste at first. Sharp fruitiness in the middle. A mesmorizing combination of flavors combine at the end. Oak, cherries, a little alcohol. This is a refreshing, spring time beer that is wonderful when sipped on a sunny day outside on your deck! One of the world's greats! Thanks for the trade Chazwicke!

Straight from Winnipeg, thanks piscator34 Rodenbach grand cru appears ruby brown with a vague haze. It wears a delicately laced beige head that, while diminishing, is more persistent than it's usual for sour ales. Sticky leftover. Deep, intense and complex aroma. Magnificient old cask wood and oak gently complement malic and acetic acid. Sharp maderized cherries and vinous blue grapes are blend together in the most virtuous cookie/toasty malt. Moist and old cave yeast in which you've spilled a few drops of vinegar and let a few apples rott. You don't get much more complex than that. The first sip surprises me. I have very high expectations you see? This is a good bit sweeter than anticipated and less tart. Multiple flavors come and go: vanilla, grapes, caramel, green plants, vinegar, mint, oak(!)... Mouthfeel is thin-medium and proposes above average effervescence. Very dry eternal grapes and cherries from the wood aftertaste, astringent, delicately lactic. I hoped to have found a first 5, but this is not quite there, the quest is not over. I can only desire I had a chance to bask in the glory from the pre-palm versions era. Ahhh, desire... Fabulously complex and a nice souvenir from glorious times. How could you ever grow tired of a good flemish sour ale?
After having this 4 times in the last 2 weeks, I indeed can't see myself ever growing tired of it and raise the rating one point overall and there might be more to come!

Dark cherries marinate in balsamic vinegar in the nose. Ruby brown with decent tan head that recedes to cover. Sour cherries become tart and dance in a lively effervescence across the tongue though mouthfeel is quite smooth. Fantastic. Bottle. Thanks Rastacouere!

Very dark, tan head which collapses pretty quick. Aroma is cool as all get out, cherries, those evil black ones, and the vinegar overtones everyone speaks of. Already I am worried that I am not at a level to appreciate this one, it's obviously very complex but so different, like the first time I tried a kriek but more so... and I am right, this is weird, but great. The sour is finished with a tart flavour. Very quick and clean completion of the drink off the palate.

The Sierra Nevada clone has been my closest, best attempt so far. Probably also helps that it is a "live" brew, which means it hasn't been completely filtered and is still fermenting (although very slightly) when it gets to you. All of mine are "live" brews because I haven't invested in a filtering system yet. We'll see what happens.
