yes. that is a risk I am willing to take. I think the moment the freedom of expression succumbs to government fear, the very purpose of our country has been betrayed.
You may disagree. If so, then thats just a fundamental difference in our beliefs :dunno:
The United States government was not out sniping people in the DC area and President Bush did not fly a plane into 3 buildings. Did you happen to see any of those 3 in real life? I did. I cried.
your post led me to believe that you think the threat of terrorism is an unfounded fear.
i see.
No, certainly not totally unfounded. Overplayed, yes, I would say so. We are not all in mortal danger of terrorist attack, but it would serve the interests of certain individuals in power if we all believed that.

I am in no way placing the personal blame for terrorist activity on the president's shoulders. How you came to that conclusion is beyond me. Security is important to me; certainly one of the principle responsibilities of the government. However I think that responsibility should never supersede the responsibility to protect our civil liberties.

Ok. That's a fair statement. How were this kid's civil liberties violated?
censorship is a violation of one of our principal rights.
i personally wouldn't call it censorship. did anyone tell him "you can't do that"? the school system did in fact voice a concern and the authorities in question investigated said concern to make sure that there was no threat.

I think its safe to say the message he came away from this experience with was something along the lines of "you cant do that." :chuckles:
